When Mandy Carter moved to Babcock Ranch in June 2022, she wasn’t just moving into a new home. She was starting over.
As a single mom of two, Mandy had just come out of a chapter that forced her to figure out life in a completely different way. The kind of season where everything falls on your shoulders and you either stay stuck or decide to rebuild.
“I remember thinking, I can’t stay in survival mode,” she said. “I wanted more for us. I wanted a life we could actually enjoy.” – Mandy
That decision led her to Babcock Ranch, where she built her home in Edgewater Shores as one of the first lots sold in the neighborhood. It became more than just a house. It became a fresh start for her and her kids, Conner and Kara.
Conner, 14, and Kara, 12, have grown up right alongside the community. They are both active in Babcock athletics and involved in the Community Church youth group, and like many families here, their lives are filled with school events, sports, and friendships that extend beyond the classroom.
At the same time Mandy was rebuilding her home life, she leaned into her professional background and built her business, Mandy Does Marketing. With more than 20 years of experience across hospitality, retail, events, and digital marketing, she helps businesses grow through strategy, content, and branding that actually connects with people. But her work is not just about her marketing skills. It comes from lived experience. “She knows what it’s like to start over and create something out of nothing,” a friend shared. “That’s not the kind of thing you can fake.
Beyond her business, Mandy has also built a growing online platform where she shares her life more personally. From parenting as a single mom to rebuilding after a difficult chapter, her content is rooted in real experiences that many women quietly relate to.
She shares the highs, the hard moments, and everything in between, offering an honest look at what it takes to create stability, confidence, and a life that feels good again.
“It started as just sharing my own story,” she said. “But I realized there are so many women trying to figure it out behind the scenes, just like I was.”
Mandy has also become a familiar face in the Babcock Ranch community. She serves as the Cross Country and Track coach for the Babcock Trailblazers, working closely with student athletes and helping build a strong and supportive team culture.
She also plays a big role in school and community events. Mandy organizes the annual Kentucky Derby Gala, a signature event that raises money for the school’s arts and music programs, bringing together families, local businesses, and supporters for a night that directly benefits students.
She was also a founding member of the Rotary Club of Babcock Ranch, something that fits her personality. She’s always been someone who likes to help build things, not just be part of them.
That same mindset led her to help bring Girls on the Run to Babcock Ranch in its first season, giving young girls in the community an opportunity to build confidence, strength, and connection through the program.
For Mandy, Babcock Ranch is not just where she lives. It is where her family found their footing again.
“It gave us a place to start fresh,” she said. “And over time, it became so much more than that. It became home.”
Today, you will find Mandy balancing business ownership, motherhood, coaching, fitness and community involvement, all while building a life she once wasn’t sure was possible.
And in many ways, that is exactly what her story represents.
Not just starting over.
But building something better.
